These “Word Drawings”, as I call them, most often begin with a question. Usually a question about something that moves or frustrates me. The essence of the question is carefully composed and written down on a gestural line on the paper. An answer comes to mind immediately and is also written down, though without hesitation or contemplation. I then collect things from the natural world, take photos of the environment wherein I collected those items, and add that information to the drawing. Immediate in a certain way, intuitive, and personal, these works are visual meditations.
