Susan Guevara has illustrated over 20 picture books for children during the last 26 years. Among her acknowledgements, her work has been a three time winner of the Pura Belpré Award and Honor, received the Tomàs Rivera Award, and has been recognized as one of the New York Times 10 Best Illustrated Books of the Year. Her contribution to the book, “Chato’s Kitchen” authored by Gary Soto, has been recognized by the New York Public Library as one of the 100 Best Books in the Last 100 Years.
Susan writes about multicultural authenticity, the creative process, and visual literacy in children’s literature. She has also contributed a work of fiction to a collection edited by Lori Marie Carlson and is in the company of authors such as Sandra Cisneros, Gary Soto, and Oscar Hijuelos.
